You guys who think Plaisted needs more improvement in order to be a success are fooling yourselves if you think he'll get more improvement at BYU then with an NBA program to be successful as a pro. The only guys who are better off spending the extra year in college are the ones who won't make it in the NBA and need to stretch out their good careers as long as possible. If he is going to be a success in the NBA, the NBA will make him a success faster than BYU will. If he is destined to fail, then he will fail whether or not he gets another year with us.
I'm not making a judgment call as far as Plaisted is concerned- I just think that if he is going pro, then he probably weighed his options and realized that he's got about as much exposure as he's gonna get and this is his in and I think its a good decision. Its make or break and I wish him the best.
You're completely discounting the value of a resume' season in college hoops. You don't sell when your stock is low and that's what TRent is doing.
If he came back and his team got into the sweet sixteen, he might end up a lottery pick; instead he's going to get a 2nd round minimal salary for a year before the league realizes he has no NBA value.
Arajou made more money because of his senior year (aka lottery pick) than Trent will make in his entire career; if it is true that he hired an agent. I'm in the same boat as a few others, if he's dumb enough to listen to the wrong people, then I don't want him at BYU. We'll be just fine with Chris Miles; at least Miles can rebound and box out.
I have no desire to root for Trent in the league; but his stay will be so short, I won't have to worry about it.
This does however make me a huge fan of Tyler Hansbrough, and I can't even begin to say how much I appreciate his love for basketball. I'm not sure Trent even likes hoops, and I certainly don't know if he cares about BYU.
