Actors have to act and a beer add is just an acting job. I wouldn't do it myself, but I also don't get mad at Mormons who work in restaurants that have to ask their clients if they want a margarita.

LDS people work in casinos, liquor stores, government and all sorts of morally hazy areas.

I served on a mission with Kirby and the first time I met him I formed the opinion that there was something about him that I didn't like. He once asked me why I didn't talk much around him and I half jokingly replied with, "because I don't like you."

I understand actors have to eat and all but out of all the things you can do for your career why this? Even though I don't like the guy at all he is one of the most talented people I have met. There were a few times where a little pee actually came out from laughing so hard at some of the stuff he would do. Personally I think it was a complete waste of his talent and a step in the wrong direction.

Heck, he wasn't even really acting. Grabbing a beer and walking into a club isn't much different from his behaviour while serving as AP in the Dominican Republic.

My personal feelings of him as a person asidd, if he was a regular actor without a strong LDS reputation then the beer commercial wouldn't be a big deal. But what kind of message is being sent while watching the RM grab a beer and walk into a club or party? I see it as a slap in the face to all of the faithful members and other people who have helped him get where he is today.

Which DR mission. What years? I served in the DR Santo Domingo East Mission in 1992-1994 under President Jarman. Just wondering...

Go Cougs!!!

there's a funny advert in Canada, for a sandwich place similar to subway, and 2 missionaries knock on a door to a person about to eat one, and the missionary stares, takes it, and runs, whilst the other missionary just stares in unbelief at what just happened, it's funny. as far as Kirby goes, it's about as surprising as Hans Olson's ad on the radio "everyone knows i don't drink beer, but if i did it would be Wasatch beer" that wonderfully brewed beverage that is light and great...ooh yes, that'd be the beer for me"

so i'll put hans and kirby in the same group
it's all about the benjamins
