Brandon Doman on Max Hall

"He is the best we have had in four years and that is not a knock on John Beck," quarterbacks coach Brandon Doman told the Salt Lake Tribune."

So four years ago, I think that was Matt Berry and a freshman John Beck. Is Doman saying that Hall is the best we've had since Berry? Sounds like another error, along with Bronco being an alumnus and Willing coming from Vandy...or am I missing something?

I think the period of time Coach Doman was referring to is the length of his tenure as QB coach when he made the comment.

I took it to mean that Max was getting the job done and done well!

Obviously, Doman (and by extension the entire coaching staff) has adopted John Beck as a kind of lucky charm. And as such, replaced the phrase "knock on wood" with "knock on John Beck". Therefore, the correct interpretation is that Max is so good that we will not need to rely on luck, like we needed to four years ago every time Berry touched the ball.

I applaud this move by the coaching staff, as it is the first step toward canonization as Saint Beck, the patron saint of receivers-open-in-the-end-zone, and legitimizing the miracle of the "Answered Prayer" of 2006.

I have laughed that hard in a while, bonus for you Rhyno. I think whoever wrote this article may have spent too much time on BYU fan sites.

"The odds against any team going undefeated are long, and BYU is no different, but the potential for a magical run is in place."

The way I see it, the year is half over and we're still undefeated and sport the longest winning streak in the country. Here's to doing the same thing during the second half!!!

Just a quick thought, kind of on topic. I am glad to be in the news for this kind of stuff. 3-4 Years ago we were in the news for other stuff. It is a VERY NICE change. I thought of that when reading the other news making headlines section of that same page.

-Ga. Tech's Tarrant charged with rape, suspended

-Georgia mascot Uga VI dies from heart failure

-Ex-Oklahoma quarterback jailed for unpaid tickets

-Bama dismisses LB charged with selling cocaine

-McElrathbey transferring from Clemson to Howard

-Clemson S McDaniel arrested on assault charges

-Ex-Wash St. QB recruit Schmidtke to Indiana St.

-UCF running back Kay suspended after arrest

Again glad of the change that has happened in the off season as well as during the season.

(Knock on John Beck)
