What would BYU have to do
this year to win the national championship? Most of you will say it is impossible - because of: (1) BYU's relative low preseason ranking (too many stairs to climb to get to the one or two spot), (2) BYU's mid-major conference status, (3) a weak schedule - no opponent (except Utah?!) ranked higher than BYU at the start of the season, (4) questions on the defensive side of the ball, (5) the BCS cartel - in the form of voters, sports writers, and coaches. Is there any way BYU, on its own record and statistics, could position itself to qualify for the 2008 national championship - regardless of what the other teams do this year? Most of you will say that the top teams in front of BYU must lose at least one game and preferrably in the second half of the season and BYU must have no loses and win convincingly on both sides of the ball. So, whithout help from the others. BYU can't do it. Is that it? No way BYU. Not this year. I wonder.
