Does anyone know where BYU stands nationally as far as 2009 commits goes?

Here is a short article from the Washington area:

"Rivals.com has these updated, and still way early, rankings on the recruiting classes of 2009. As many of you have pointed out with some frustration, UW is impossible to rank at the moment since they don't have any commits. Ohio State, with 23 commits, leads the rankings with 23 commits while USC, which has 14, is next. Other Pac-10 teams ranked are UCLA (22nd with seven commits) and Stanford (24th with seven commits)."

1st Notre Dame has been in the top 10 in recruiting classes and have done nothing with it (haven't won a bowl game in nearly 20 years). After Patriots spygate, the luster has really come off of Charlie Weiss. So class ranks obviously don't exactly mirror on field success.

Our perceived class rank will be based on whether or not Manti Teo, SuaFilo, Filiaga, Latu Heimuli, Richard Wilson, and Kyle VanNoy sign.

Those are all all america caliber guys. If we get half of them we'll be considered a top 25 class (I honestly think we'll get all but SuaFilo), if we get all of them, we're a top 15 class.

The next group, Taysom Hill, Brett Thompson, Fanua, Hasiak, Chris Washington, are all depth guys that eventually could start and would be nice gets.

Honestly though, the amount of stars a guy has means very little to the BYU coaching staff (thus the national class ranking doesn't mean much either) All they care about is winning, which we do.... a lot.

Truth is, that we have more talented guys out there that are considering BYU than there are scholarships to give. For every one of the top 6 guys that commit, there will be one less scholarship.

We haven't even scratched the surface for the JUCOs next year either (a corner, safety depth after fowler and tafuna graduate (all of our newest great safety recruits will b serving missions) immediate dline depth, a punter, and/or a no brainer Olineman to help replace the 4 leaving)

Those top 6 will make all the difference between a good and a great class.

I have a feeling that aside from those all americans, that there will be guys with pulled offers because they didn't commit in a timely manner. That's a good sign that our depth and future seasons are secure.

Throw in a potential BCS busting season and who knows how this class fills out....

So far Bronco hasn't disapointed....

u-dub without commits yet? I guess i've gotten used to committing lads early. Another reason is probably because u-dub is u-dub. Go Cougs
