Yup, $2 billion over 15 years. That's $11 million per year per school. So much for them starting their own sports network. That doesn't include bowl money or NCAA tournament money.

Great link... MWC management needs to get a clue. I would trade two BYU games on ESPN per year for 12 on the MTN/VS/ whatever other loser channel.

I'm not sure how it all works, but I'm pretty sure BYU didnt have to sign that deal a few years ago. Bottom line, Cougs need to pull out and get on ESPN a couple times a year, even on Thursday night. We recruit NATIONALLY so we need to be on NATIONAL TV!!!

If someone could fill us in on how the TV agreement with BYU/MWC works that'd be great.

If we had stayed with ESPN we would be playing on Monday and Tuesday nights for the chance to play on ESPN. We'd also be making approximately $500,000 a year in TV money. Less than we make in one home game.

...and that would be bad? I guess you see my point... who cares about TV money. BYU needs to be on ESPN all it can get... I reemphasize: Two games a year on ESPN ( for FREE) are better than the current set up... we need national exposure since we recruit nationally.

I disagree completely, and we can still get on ESPN twice a year for free with the setup we have now. Once for the bowl game and once when we play a PAC10 team at their place. And we still get to keep the millions of dollars of TV money.

Without TV money there would be no BYU football program. It's simply too expensive to not get the television bucks.

We need to win games! If the conference is on ESPN and doesn't hold it's own against BCS teams, then it will avail us nothing (No money - games at horrible times). If we win - regardless of whether or not we are on ESPN - exposure and contracts will come!

We just need to win big games and exposure will come!

A wise movie had the saying - "If you build it (our program) he will come (fans will come)."

How did the SEC get the recognition? They won games! They put out quality football teams! We will get more mula and great exposure once we start putting out better products.
