I too hope Utah wins, it would benefit BYU and the conference--especially when we smoke the utes in SLC. But the reason they will lose is:
A. They are the visiting team, so they start the game behind by seven
B. Michigan is dedicating the opening of a brand new, remodeled stadium
C. Michigan is showing off new uniforms (they dumped Nike for Adidas)
D. Rodriguez is putting in a whole new offense, so any old film on Michigan is mostly worthless
E. Michigan has 105,000 fans screaming for a new coach, a new stadium, and new hope for football success.
F. After overlooking APP State last year, they will not be found guilty of that again.
Utah has some things going for them; a stout defense, some returning starters, a returning QB who has yet to prove he's as good as advertised. A rushing offense that could not run on BYU, and they certainly will not run on Michigan. If Michigan scores first and gets rolling, Utah will struggle the whole game. If Utah scores first, that will only motivate the Wolverines and they 105,000 fans to get after the utes.
Utah will threaten, and the game will be close, but Michigan will have too much energy, too much momentum, and too much noise for Utah to deal with.
