Before I post the rumor I heard yesterday, I want to go on record by saying I personally think it's bunk.
So here's the news. A friend of mine who lives near the stadium and has multiple BYU big wigs in his ward has told me the supposed plan for the HC. It was told to him that Crowton is history, Chow will be named HC next year under a 5 year contract. After those 5 years Chow will retire and be succeeded by Andy Reid (who's contract wit the eagles will be expired)
To me this sounds like the plans of a disillusioned fool. Ideally it sounds great but I have serious doubts that things will work out as smoothly as the guy who spoke it thinks. So my conclusion is that this is just some blokes wishful thinking. But it's food for thought, who knows maybe it'll prove accurate.

That is the most ridiculous thing I have read in a long time. Norm Chow is not leaving USC to come to a struggling BYU program after that same program screwed him over just a few years ago. There is also no logical reason why he would agree to retire after five years to move aside for Andy Reid. Can you even imagine that conversation?

BYU: So, we were obviously very wrong to fire you and make racist comments about you. Would you like to leave the best program in college football to give us another shot?
Chow: Hmmm, sure.
BYU: Great. Also, we would like you to leave in five years so we can get an even better coach to come in and replace you.
Chow: Sounds perfect. Why didn't I think of that.

And can anyone seriously argue that Reid is thinking of coming to BYU so much that he has already agreed to be the coach after his contract expires? I have a feeling he is a little more focused on trying to take his team to the Super Bowl this year. Why do cougar fans keep thinking the BYU job is so attractive that Reid would leave a job paying him millions more than he would earn at BYU? Why would he leave the NFL where he has built a reputation as one of the best coaches in the league to go to a college program in a mid major conference? I love BYU and I think their program has a bright future. But that future will not include Reid or Chow.

Gee, I'm glad you're not the moderator. Thanks for your advice but I think I, along with the rest of us here on the board will continue to post whatever we dang well please. Now perhaps you misread my post, I repeatedly stated that I personally thought that my friends source is full off crap. I don't care if he was in the 1st presidency, it just doesn't seem probable that anything like the chow/reid rumor will come to pass. I only posted what I was told so that you all would be able to have the knowledge and form your own assessment and opinions. So take a deep breath and calm down just a bit.

Assistant Coaches every year leave go to less known schools. Why wouldn't Chow want ot be a head coach?? The guys who didn't want him are gone. Besides that he still lives in the Provo area still. The best revenged on the ones who didn't want you is being hired by thier replacement and turning the team around.
Now saying that I don't know if he's in the mix, but it is not that big of a stretch to consider.

Agreed, I think that they day we see Andy Reid turn dow 5 million per year to come coach at BYU for 500k per year will be a cold day in He!! Norm Chow has made it very clear that he has NO interest in BYU after they snubbed him in 99. All of the conspiracy theorists that call themselves BYU fans need to wake up and smell the postum.
