Has Andrew George already gone on a mission? Or is he even LDS?

George is an RM. I sure hope he puts on some wieght before fall.

That's good to know. I liked what I saw from him out there. I think the combination of him and So'oto could be even better than Coats and Harline. Assuming that So'oto learns how to catch, that is.

Yes, Andrew George is LDS and an RM.

Fui impressed me the most today, he'd have several guys hanging on to him and he'd just keep going. I'm very optimistic about the running game with CB and Fui (and Latu looked good too).

The biggest surprise to me was how many people were there! I couldn't go last year, was this year's attendance better than last year?

Last year's crowd looked considerably larger than this year's.

Today's Blue/White Game 2 Years, 2 Months ago Karma: 0
I really enjoyed the game. I thought we looked good all around. The defense played well. I watched the secondary and they were always in the game. They provided some good coverage and broke up several passes. The passes that were completed they were quick to make a tackle. They really never let anyone get behind them. The defense was tackling hard today. We were on the 40 yard line about 15 rows up and you could here the pops. You could see the potential of the offense. I don't believe they had the opportunity to really showcase. We saw four different QBs take snaps. There was a WR that I was impressed with. I hadn't heard of him before today. Issac Taylor made his presence known. He is a walk on and I think you will be seeing him much more this year. He showed some real quickness and nice hands today. He will add to the depth of the WR core. I believe after today that the D has made strides. I'm not saying the secondary will be great, but I think they will be adequate. They will provide enough defense to allow the offense to win the games. As far a Jacobson, When he was in he did a good job running his routes and getting open. They didn't throw to him much. He did make a spectacular catch on the side close to the north end zone. The official ruled that he was pushed out of bounds. The replay made it look like he clearly got his feet down in bounds. He is quick and will be fun to watch. My only regret was we didn't get to see any special teams. It would have been interesting to see how they have progressed. Overall I think we will be a good team. We have the makings and offensive weapons to be a great team. It will depend if the defense continues to improve. I am very optimistic after today's scrimmage.

The attendance was most likely tied to the weather and the decision to make it only a scrimmage rather than a game. But, I was satisfied with the attendance.

First impression of the offense: A bit sluggish.

But, it wasn't the day to define the offense. They just weren't out there to impress anyone. They were out there to run some plays and do what they can to let guys learn their positions. I like that about it. It was the business of Ws and Ls, not PR work. They weren't selling tickets they were working on the team and it's issues.

They ran almost every play strong right unless two tight ends were in. The tight ends are great blockers and will be a huge strength for the team as expected.

The defense ran only one set the whole scrimmage.

About 50/50 run to pass ratio.

Jason Beck has a weak arm but his offense was able to drive on the defensive 2s. JaBeck kept hitting his man low although Andrew George got a huge TD catch off a low ball. It was well thrown at the pylon to keep out of reach of defenders but was far too low.

John Beck looked strong as a QB but like I said earlier, wasn't trying to prove anything. As a Senior he looks mature and was focused on feeding the ball to players rather than hyping up the crowd. Beck is going to be a great QB this year, and should health allow will be able to finally gain Ws with his stats.

The defense was very much improved like earlier posters said. Breaking on the ball and reaching to get the interception or block. Not quite a complete 180 from last year, but certainly a vast improvement. Jaime Hill was grabbing guys on the sideline and showing them where they screwed up after plays. I like Hill.

I heard a fan say, "The fifteen and cut-back pattern is going to be money this year." I completely agree.

Sigh...too many months until fall camp.

In my opinion Tico Pringle played the best defensively of any defensive player. I know that he played against the twos mostly, but he broke up several pass plays and on the one play that they completed a ball in front of him he closed fast and had by far the best tackle of the day just leveling the receiver. I know I have seemed like a Tico homer but I see something in this kid that makes me think he will be a special player for BYU. I do not know nearly as much as the coaches, but maybe he is a better gamer than practice player. That is what they used to say about Doman.

That was actually one of my favorite plays from the whole day just because I was really tired of nobody being able to tackle the bigger receivers. But it looked like Pringle was never playing with the first team defense. I know it is only spring, but from today it looked like Justin and Kayle Buchanan are still the 1 and 2 corners on the roster.

I felt like the offense couldn't do much, at least passing wise, due to the depletion of the offensive line. Whenever Beck had to wait for a play to develop, the play was broken up due to a "sack" (if that is what the whistle is called to call the play dead). But for the running backs, I was impressed. I felt like they could run the ball all day.

Another non-namer that I thought made more of a name for himself in the scrimmage was the JC transfer walk-on, Isaak Taylor #84. He looked good in the drills and had a nice catch in the game. I had he has been a real surprise and has only been in camp for 2 weeks. Am I right?

Andrew George also looked really good, especially that TD catch.

I would have liked to see a punt in the game. I like the special teams aspect, and it was a little bit of a disappointment for me to see it completely cut out.
