"Judge not lest ye be judged."

Let's lay off the "I wonder what Vakapuna did for companionship study every morning."

The kid is built like a horse, always has been.

My guess is he studied the scriptures for companionship study every morning. THe fact that he didn't go to the BYU football game for which he was offered tickets is a pretty good indication to me that he was focused on the work, not on football.

One article said that he woke up at 5:30 every morning. Additionally, I heard that when most members in Carlsbad had him over for dinner asked him about football, he refused to talk about it.

And let's not forget that he and other return missionaries are attributing their current conditioning to the mandatory 30 minutes of exercise that's now required of missionaries. You can stay in pretty good shape that way. Even if all you can do is push-ups and sit-ups, you'll come back pretty cut. Throw in a 30-min run a few times a week and you're doing more than most Americans.[/color:664626f78f]

I was there and here are my observations...

Didn't take much from it as far as team performance, but there were some interesting individual performances of note.

Fui is what they say he is. He runs so hard, takes on tacklers and has a true touchness to his running. LOVED IT.

Jacobson is going to be a very good receiver at BYU. His diving/leaping grab at the left sideline was about as good as you can get, even if it was incorrectly ruled out-of-bounds.

The linebackers are big and physical. Chris Bolden looks like a mini Ray Lewis, very strong and muscular.

Dan Coates looks like Conan the Destroyer, the dude is stacked!!

Tight end position is something to be extremely excited about. Andrew George looks like Johnny Harline's twin brother, and Coats and So'oto look great as well.

I am beginning to think the defense will be better this year, even if only a little.

Overall it was a fun day. Not much to interpret as far as how well the team with do. But it was fun to see the players face-to-face. Fui was surrounded by young kids wanting autographics and he was so good with them. He had a constant smile and was very eager to make the kids happy. It was just a great feeling, made me proud to be a BYU fan.

ps- while searching for the restroom for my 3-year old daughter I walked past a family of Polynesians who were talking smack about the Utes...LOVED IT!! Nice to see the Polynesian pipeline is still open and running.

It was the correct call. In college you are allowed to push the reciever out of bounds before he comes down. In the NFL, the official can rule he would have come down in bounds but was forced out.

So technically, in college, anytime a receiver jumps to catch the ball, the defender could/should (?) then catch the receiver and carry him out of bounds and then deposit him on the ground and it would be an imcompletion.[/color:30e0306bae]

lweb8fan
- I'm not sure why Tico Pringle #17 is on the third team? I felt that he was the best cover corner that we had out there. I think when all is said and done in the fall, HE WILL START.

Why Tico is not on first team presently and may not start this fall:

The ones allowed 2 completions, the twos allowed 7, one for a touchdown, Tico was a two. 3 of the 7 completions were to his side/man.

To be specific:
1. who did George beat for his touchdown catch in the North east end zone? ......i.e.#17 WRONG
2.The pass that Tico "broke up", was under-thrown, if on the money it is a completion. WRONG
3. His big hit was after he bit on a fake and was too soft in his coverage, 8 to 10 yards off the receiver. WRONG

As fans, our eye is often drawn to a BIG hit or a break up, but often we do not see everything that happened first. Only the entire perspective tells the story. That is why the coaches study film.

Were You at the scrimmage?
The reasons your WRONG.
1. Pringle wasn't covering George, it was the safety Quinn Gooch who covers the Tight end. Remember the corners cover RECEIVERS in the 4-3

2. Last year I RARELY saw corners break up passes. Most of the scrimmage Pringle was covering one of our most talented receivers, Michael Reed #3.

3. Most idiotic statements you made are IF, AND, BUT comments. The fact is he made plays. Your right, fans look for big hits and break ups, however that's simply because that player is making what we call a good "PLAY."

-Iweb8fan, you better hope and pray that Tico is starting over the D2 corners we had last year. When you consider all the facts You will learn that safeties cover tight ends (or sometimes linebackers do) and corners cover receivers. And that Tico is better then Justin Robinson. Do you remember 3rd and 29 in the Utah game last year? GET your facts straight.
