I agree with edward about Utahs talent, but I also agree with qman that we will beat them head to head at least once. Maybe that is all but I don't think they will sweep us this year. I predict that Utah will finish at the top of the conference, but BYU will be right behind giving them a scare. We both go dancing and we both get eliminated in the same round. I know it is a bold prediction but you know what, it has happened in the recent past too. Early prediction but I don't think it is uncalled for. I am optimistic, hopeful, but not naive. We still have six weeks before conference play and I think the games between now and then will be very telling.

Yea Utah should be pretty good this season, but once Cleveland realizes that All of our seniors besides Hall aren't getting it done he will play the young talent and they will have good games and bad games. But they are good enough to have great games.

TURNOVERS and POOR SHOOTING are what doomed the cougars. They were not going to beat NC no matter what but they had 27 turnovers and shot horribly. Basically the same thing against Stanford. They could have easily won that game with a normal number of turnovers and decent shooting. What happened to Hall? The guy is shooting like 20% or something. Not good when your best player can't make a shot. We will win today but only because we play a bad team. I am very concerned about this season.

Deja vu from last year. Remember Bigalo's preseason last year? When conference started, he seemed to get somewhat better but still had games where his shot just disappeared. He never seemed to have consistent rhythm and confidence. I hope Hall breaks out of his slump. He has to score for BYU to win.

If Hall doesn't score 18+ per game we lose every time. Period. There is no one else on this team we can count on consistently for points. My BIG issue with Cleveland is really simple: HE CAN'T GET HIS TEAMS TO CONSISTENTLY SCORE IN THE 70'S OR 80'S.

He gets his guys to play good defense but the problem over the last 7 years has always boiled down to the teams inability to consistently put up 70+. The teams that did were the ones with real offensive talent. My point being is that a good coach should be able to build a system where you can consistently score. We don't have to be a 80 point team a night but we do have to get to the 70's to win. Scoring 51 and 53 points in your first two games, no matter who you are playing, is REALLY, REALLY poor.

I consistently see Cleveland's teams have LARGE scoring gaps where we will go 4, 5, 6, 7 minutes sometimes without a basket. For all of Reid's faults, his teams NEVER did that. He always had set plays he could got to and get points. What is the deal with Cleveland's team not being able to consistently feed the post? I am a college basketball junky and I call it like I see'em. I LOVE Y basketball but I am very concerned about the consistent trend I see with his teams.

I recently added a post suggesting we as Cougar fans refrain from bashing each other because we cheer for the same team. But, I have to say I don't know what BARNEY's issues are. True, maybe the guard positions on the team are not mesmerizing but to say there is no one under the basket to work with is stupid. Yes, there are alot of young players. But Cleveland's recruiting class was ranked top-20 nationally. The big loss was Lee Cummard but they've recruited some nice big men (Miles, Plaisted, Burgess, Young). Not to mention veterans Jensen, Dawes and Meads. This is a big team. I don't typically form opinions or judgements regarding those who post but BARNEY seems to have a totally negative attitude about everything. Unlike the football team, which is also young and talented, I think Cleveland will get his players to play. I am actually pretty optimistic and excited about this team.
