What is up with the basketball team. I had to turn the game off last night but I just couldn't stand watching them anymore. My little brother's Jr. Jazz team could beat them. Well not exactly, but still could we just get some penetration to the basket instead of hopping around the three point line. If this team is going to live and die by the three point shoot, we're in deep trouble. I don't care if our recriuting team was ranked in the top 25. They aren't playing like it. Either they were all way overated and we bought into it, or something needs to snap them back into playing real ball. If we continue to play like this lucky to win 5 games.

Steki, since you've already quit on this team, I don't even know why I'm responding to you. You say the team is a "big disappointment." Well, if you knew anything about this team you would know that this was going to be down year. We lost so much from last year's team. Most people expected this team to struggle. I haven't been surprised yet by this team. You question the top 25 recruiting class, are you aware of how many of those guys are playing right now? Let's see, Trent Plaisted was in for 3 minutes last night. Chris Miles was in for 2 and David Burgess didn't get in and Lee Cummard isn't even with the team. You'll probably say that it's proof that they're no good. Look, we're not North Caorlina where our freshman are good enough for the NBA. We have a young team. 9 guys weren't even with the team last year. Instead of criticizing this team and giving up on them, how about you get behind them and cheer them on in good AND tough times. This team hasn't quit, I'm saddened that after 5 games you already have.

SpiffCoug, you've proved my point exactly, none of the players from our supposed top 25 recruiting class are making much of a difference. If they really are a top 25 recruiting I would expect a least one of them to step up big time. So far not one of them has.

Also, I haven't given up on the team. I just think that the team should've brought in impact players to fill in all that gaps that we have. I'm not saying we should expect them to get to the dance or even win the MWC. But I do expect them to win between 10-15 games. The way we are playing now that isn't going to happen. Cleveland is a good coach so hopefully by mid-season we will see them playing that way. Someone just needs to start slashing to the basket so things open up. Right now they dribble the ball a little bit, pass, and then stand around.

The problem I say last night was twofold. First our offense doesn't produce any good shots. We just don't seem to set any screens or go high post low post against the zone. IMO it isn't the point guards fault or have anything to do with it.

Second Jensen can't play any defense. I wish they would play the young guys all the time. Meads looks a little better on defense...but he still need to be alittle quicker.
