Sure the MWC is pretty crappy, but after all the losing seasons we are recovering from I'm just sitting back enjoying the blowouts for once. I'm seriously in no hurry to move up to a better conference. I say let the cougars go undefeated a couple of seasons, let the fans soak it up for once, and then make the move.

The point is: Stop saying that the Cougars are winning because the conference is crappy and start enjoying the Cougars winning streak for once. Can't the Cougars have a winning season without everyone giving the credit to poor opponents?

A simple analysis....

BYU's 4 wins have been blowouts with the games decided by the end of the third quarter (TCU scored garbage TD in final two minutes).

BYU's 2 losses have been on the road to BCS schools by a combined 10 points.

So....essentially BYU is 11 points away from being undefeated with two wins over ranked opponents (BC and TCU).

A loss is a loss, but you can't get much closer to that for being undefeated. BYU has to be considered the best 4-2 team in the nation. They lost their games narrowly, yet won their games in huge blowouts. I believe they are hitting their stride now, with the only real test coming on the Colorado road trips. If they bust through those, watch out Utah!

BYU's 4 wins have come against Tulsa, Utah State, TCU and SDSU. The average ranking of all 4 schools is 88. They've lost to Arizona and Boston College, whose average ranking is 39. Interesting. I can't recall a time when the conference has been so weak? BYU is going to soundly demolish its 3rd high school team this year in 2 weeks (UNLV).

I also want to make a prediction: BYU will officially be bowl eligible on Nov. 4, but possibly as early as October 28. When will it take more than a mere 6 wins to become bowl eligible? Maybe the bigger question is: how long before there is a bowl for every college football team?

Man... the MWC sure is a dumpy league. The average ranking of all 9 teams (as of October 9) is 78. #78 in the nation right now is none other than powerhouse Kent State! That is embarrassing!!!

Ihope you didn't put any thought into this because it would have been a waste of time.

This year we are 4 and 2 through 6 games, last year we were 3 and 3. Look at our first 6 games last year and our first 6 this year and you'll see that despite your "averaging" this year's schedule through 6 games is actually tougher. Boston College is better than they were last year, and at home, - Utah State is tougher than Eastern Illinois; TCU lost to BYU and Utah this year, but could easily have done so last year as well. Then we have SDSU and New Mexico. Both clearly easier than Tulsa.

SO how is it deceiving?

Oh that's right - its deceiving only to a disgruntled cheapskate who is mad that he cannot bring his own food into the stadium, who thinks that the administrators are lining their pockets with filthy lucre and cannot stand it when you are wrong…you predicted a bad season, and now that your prediction is starting to be proven wrong, you are gonna claim that it is only wrong, because the rest of the conference is "weak."

HERES A NEWS FLASH - YES THEY ARE WEAKER THAN US! THAT IS WHY WE WILL WIN! - that is usually why we win, we beat weaker opponents.

Remember 1996? Every time we beat someone, even Kansas State, they were weaker! Ohio State is beating weaker opponents! (is their record deceiving) Give me a break!

While BYU is 11 points away from being undefeated, they are really less than that as the 7 point loss was in overtime.

Also, I agree that a loss is a loss, but as we have recently seen, there are differences in losses. Look at the Yewts loss to BSU, that loss had a lot more impact across the country than BYU's loss to BC. Both ended up with the same result in the win/loss record, but the entire perception of the Yewts changed.

That is some pretty sad logic. Since when do you combine the rankings of multiple teams to find out how good they are? Just goes to show you can make stats say anything you want them to. The independents average is 66, so they must suck too, am I correct? Little known fact: You play one team at a time, not the average of all the teams....
