I like that the national media is giving Arizona some attention. If we do beat them in a few months, hopefully the country won't overlook it just because Zona's been so mediocre recently.

How many top 10 teams did BYU play? How many BCS bowl teams did BYU play? Arizona put up almost identical numbers to BYU on defense, playing against a MUCH tougher schedule.Arizona would have won 10 games with the schedule BYU faced.

I am continually amazed that we persistently goad these trolls on. Maybe we just do it so that we can get him kicked off the board (see a-fanatic). We are just feeding the frenzy that he has created (I am aware of the irony that I am posting here as well.) My point is that we will get nowhere with him. If I were an AZ fan I would be reading this and thinking the exact same BCS crap that he is spouting. ("We played in a better conference, and we beat better opponents, and we are gods in the world of college football, and anybody not in a BCS conference might as well be division II, because we are better than you... blah, blah, blah, blah.)

You make some great points and I understand the gist of what you are saying.

However, part of the fun for many fans is debating on the comparative aspects of the game. Many people like to brag about their team, educate others about their team, and diminish the accomplishments of their opponent. All this is all in good fun and shouldn't be taken seriously. Frankly, I wish we had more opponents' fans hop on the board and engage Cougar fans. We hear nothing all year except from AZ fan, Duck head, Rebel yell, and an occasional Ute. Where are the other teams that we play? I'm beginning to think that there is no such thing as a CSU fan.

Hopefully you are not offended by the goings on of this thread. I think we all know at the end of the day the games are exactly how you say-- decided by the players on the field.

The Arizona defense forced the turnovers that cost BYU the game. It's pretty slick how you are all trying to say that without BYU turning it over, they would have won. It's not like they just walked up to a defender and handed him the ball. The turnovers were forced. We also had the upper hand in the kicking game, which made a difference that night. Listening to BYU football fans is exactly like listening to New Mexico basketball fans. The team had a couple of good years and think that they are the class of the nation. They are wrong. You are wrong. I can't wait until this game is over, we get our list of excuses from BYU fans as to why they didn't win, and then we can move on.

Wow, you really are a complete idiot. Take a look at the outcomes and the stats. Once the Cougars got in sync offensively nearly every game after that was over by half time. Just be glad your beloved cats weren't in the way of the steamroll once it got going. To say BYU is a "crappy" team does only harm to your credibility as a sports fan. Of course, Mike Bellotti didn't think much of the Cougars either, even after a 30-point drubbing that wasn't as close as the score would indicate. And your comment about Utah being the best team in the MWC...well, they were for one season. But let me shed some light, Utah's opponents that year lost more than 60% of their games meaning the Utes really beat nobody all season...including Arizona. They had their day in the sun but now it is over. They are back to second-tier MWC status and will be for some time, or at least as long as KWhitt is coaching. BYU is the class of the MWC and the future is bright. The PAC-10 would be doing themselves a favor to bring in BYU. Then again, based on what happened to Oregon, maybe not. :?
