I'm watching Around the Horn on ESPN and Jay Mariotti of the Chicago Tribune just named John Beck as his sleeper of the draft. He even said he hoped the Bears draft him.
Of course Woody Paige responded that only one BYU QB has worked out in the NFL, and lost points for failing to consider Jim McMahon!
I don't know if anybody saw this yesterday, its on ESPN.com Insiders "Rumor Central"... which thanks to work I get, so I thought I'd share the wealth. Sounds like Beck has a big fan in the Lions. Which would be nice especially if they keep their pick and end up with Calvin Johnson. I'm sure John wouldn't complain. Though it does sound like the lions might shot Calvin around too.

Thanks. This was a good sight. I was interested to see that Wending from Wyoming is on the rise. It well be interesting to see if he goes as high as Waddle.
As to who will go first, Weddle or Beck, I don't care too much. What I want to see is who makes the most of the opportunity. In other words who will contribute to his team. I assume both will but I think, Beck if he gets a good chance with the right team, will eventually pull the biggest check. Getting on a team with a good program is more important that where you're drafted. Look at what happened to the kid from Fresno.

I agree and think he has a good chance to. I still think that Smith was/is overrated, but not as much as Weddle.
I think someone we don't expect will pick up Beck much earlier than anyone anticipates.
Interest in Beck is rising and a number of interested teams will know that if they want him, they will need to pick him early, as he won't still be there if they wait...He is peaking at just the right time to sneak in MUCH earlier than anyone is anticipating...
If Miami wants him, they know he won't be around at #60...
