Is this a blessing or a curse? I'm not sure what NFL scouts want, but it seems like they are looking for a man to fit one specific position, is this right? A guy like Waddle, who was everywhere, doesn't really have one specific position to focus on (though you'd assume DB), but when asked to do other positions, often times, he did them pretty well. Will this backfire on a guy like him? Though he was all over, he did lead the conference in INT's this year, and possibly last year, and I feel he's proven himself at that position, and possibly a few others.
I think he has a pretty good profile, but I'm not sure it's enough. I'd be shocked to see him go before Beck, especially after how well Beck has done.
I don't think he proved himself valuable at any position in the NFL. He'll be cut from 2 rosters before the season starts.

He doesn't have any full time experience at any position. I look at the gazillion Mock Drafts and see a gazillion positions they have him listed at. Even the so called experts don't know what position to list him at. Who knows, he may go #45 over all as a QB as easy as a SS or LB. It depends which game the scouts caught him on the MTN

rackemSluggerUltimately it depends on who is picking and when. Personally I am expecting a major surprise as Beck goes in the late first round or early second. It will be close but all of the media rumors right now are that Beck has gone from virtually unkown to the "hidden gem" of the draft and that is drawing attention. Even if a team does not need a QB right now, teams have a hard time passing up guys who are described as "rare", which is one of the words being used to describe Beck. Weddle could likely go first. But as for myself, I am predicting a surprise as Beck goes in the final 5 of the first or first 5 of the second.
I'm curious, where did you see the rare comment? Good stuff.
Sorry man, I read it yesterday but don't recall the source. I read quite a few things yesterday and can't sort them out right now. If I remember correctly it was from a current NFL team scout who said Beck has the ability to not only adjust, but to see windows open before they've opened, which he described as a "rare talent". It seems unanimous by the pundits that Beck's 'feel' for the game is far and away better than just about any other qb in the draft, with his shortfall being size and age compared to guys like Russell and Quinn.

I can hardly wait.... I hope Beck goes high, high to mid second round would make me happy. Steve Young was on sports center (I think) with Chris Berman and touted Beck as possibly low 1st round high 2nd. Not too sure whio would take him.

Hey guys, I know this is the Cougar board and all. But I do not think the personal attacks, or even stupid opinions are valid.
Weddle ran a 4.48 at the combine and that was the big knock on him; was/is he fast enough? It will be a real close one for who is the first but the bottom line is this...........They will both go mid 1st day in the NFL draft. That is a HUGE accomplishment to two fine young men that have spent countless hours preparing for their "craft". Shoot, Beck was at Jr day lifting while the recruits were being shown around.
You can count on your fingers the times either team has had picks this high. How about a time of celebration, it HELPS us all when Mtn West teams have high draft choices. Cheer for the safety from Wyoming and the lineman from New Mexico as well.
ps Weddle will NOT be cut from ANY team that drafts him, let alone 2.
