Don't know if anyone else saw Cougar Diary. It was on the mtn earlier and there was a clip of the players right before running out on the field for the Arizona game. Brian Kehl led the players in chanting that "January starts now!"

It gave me chills. It's clear this team is determined to leave their legacy--- and their sights are not focused on Las Vegas but the BCS. More than any BYU team in a long time, this group exudes confidence. Max Hall, Austin Collie, Brian Kehl---they're not afraid to say what they believe and what they're working for. They all fully expect to go undefeated and play in a BCS game.

Yeah, some will say, but that's all a bunch of talk; every team has big dreams at the beginning of the season. Well, I'm telling you, you can't underestimate the mental aspect of sports. I believe last year we lost to Arizona and BC not because we weren't better than them, but because we were still lacking confidence. If both of those games were played at the end of the season they likely would have been blowouts. Same players, different mindset.

I don't know what's going to happen this Saturday against UCLA, but after hearing Brian Kehl and comments by other players, there's no doubt this group has the potential and the mindset to be special. A win this weekend could set up our biggest season since 1984.

i love the mindset of this new team. when bronco was first hired as head coach, he started meeting with paul gustavson to help develop a manegment basis. he said that all organizations are perfectly designed to get the results they get. i think bronco, staff, and players have developed an excellent program, not just a workout/practice program, but a mind-set that will get superior results. i am more excited than i have ever been for cougar football. i think the nation should be prepared to be amazed by byu football for this and the coming years.

great post HfH, I love the attitude of this BYU team, and I think it all stems from Bronco.

I was listening to 1320 on the way to school yesterday, and they were doing an interview with David Nixon. who, compared to most everyone else is a pretty quiet guy, and just proves himself on the field. Anyways, he was asked about being the underdog, and he simply said, something to the effect of "I don't think BYU is the under dog in this game, we think we're the best team, and we think UCLA is the under dog"

I met Paul on my mission (California San Jose). He radiates intelligent form and desire to be better. I learned more about running a successful carer from him than all other influences, other than the church, in my life. He is a practical excellence teacher. There isn't this "think yourself better" attitude, it's this is what YOU need to do to do better. Our mission really excelled after meetings with him. I was very excited when I saw that Bronco had used his services and gone with what he explains. He once told me that every man needs a motto. HMMM... "Fully Invested", "Band of Brothers", I think he has had a great deal of influence on Bronco.
