Tulsa didn't win last night, BYU lost! 1 Year, 2 Months ago Karma: 0
After a short nights rest being on the east coast and staying up to watch the poor perfomance of our JV squad play last night, I have come to the conclusion that you can't give Tulsa the win, BYU flat out didn't show. Tulsa can not say they were the better team, with 5 turnovers and well over 100+ yards in penalties an 8 point victory is not a key win, it is a "thank you for not showing tonight" win. Now I can give in to the argument that Tulsa caused all 5 turnovers, but you still get rid of half of the stupid mental error penalties and BYU survives this game. So to state again, Tulsa was not the better team, BYU gave them the victory. So, let's all forget about it and hope that our varsity squad shows up next week to play AF, we still need to go undefeated in confrence and more importantly go undefeated at home.

GO COUGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't understand how you can say that Tulsa was not the better team. Is your vision of BYU so distorted that they cannot possibly be beaten fairly by another college football team? It bothered me when nobody gave credit to UCLA last week, it was the officials that beat BYU. Now we lost, not because Tulsa played an excellent game of football for which they prepared for two weeks, but because BYU didn't show up??? Ever consider that a majority of the penalties were a result of the growing frustration that BYU players felt as they were constantly playing from behind. Maybe they expected to blow this team out (like everybody on this site did), and they got frustrated when Tulsa was beating them on both sides of the ball.
Anyway, don't give me that crap that BYU is better than UCLA and Tulsa, better teams win games.
So much for blowing out Tulsa.
So much for having an excellent coaching staff (the constant worship on this site for Bronco, Hill, & Weber was not commensurate with the level of preparation BYU had going in to last night).
So much for having a top 10 defense.
So much for having a dominating offensive line (I will be shocked if Max survives this season, Reynolds has been playing like he wants Max to be killed).
So much for BCS talk (and thank goodness, like I said, BYU does not deserve to be playing with the best in the country until they start playing well all around against good competition, something they haven't done yet this year).
So much for tearing through conference play (Air Force & Wyoming are pretty good, Utah will play us like they played UCLA, and TCU will have Aaron Brown back when they come to town).
After only three games I have been extremely disappointed. It looks like Airwolf had a better read on this team (maybe without even opening his eyes, he says the same negative things every year anyway) than most folks on this board.
This was an amazingly disappointing loss. Congratulations Tulsa.

That has to be the worst post I have ever read in my life and I am an old guy. Tulsa ws 100% the better team last night. Anyone who knows anything about football knows that. Give me a break. I think you need to go back to sleep and then see a doctor first thing Monday morning. Reality check my blind cougar friend, we suck!

Yes, Tulsa won and did what they needed to do to win. I think what PACoug is saying that you eliminate the obvious mistakes, we win this game handily, even if we surrendered 55 points.

BYU lost the game; they gave it away.

I actually agree that BYU lost the game. Tulsa played very well on offense and out-coached the team. With that said, stupid penalties (false starts killed the drive) from what is supposed to be the strength of the team hurt more than that.

Without those stupid penalties and the kicking game, BYU wins a shootout. So what really won the game for Tulsa was playing smarter than BYU. If we play again, I think BYU adjusts on defense but the problem is we don't play again.

Another thing that I think was a major problem is that this whole week, all that has been talked about was UCLA. I don't know what the players were thinking but Tulsa was more prepared to go out and play against BYU.

Maybe we are trying for too much offense. We're getting the yards but the turnovers are killers. I think that Hall is concentrating so much on the recievers that he does not feel the pressure. That has lead to 4 fumbles the last two games. The running game average 4.8 YPC. I know the pass sets up the run but let's scale back the offense to reduce turnovers. I like the bombs. Big plays and little risk of a turnover.
