Slugger, I was glad to see your boy there and enjoying himself. I think it's cool that he is getting into it at a young age. As far as I'm concerned he's always welcome.

I'm tempted to sit out the next game. My tumble while trying to catch Hengst separated my right shoulder - albeit a relatively mild separation. We'll see how it feels by then, but right now it hurts pretty good to even raise my arm and scratch my nose.

Starting to feel like a glassman.

Hope to see more of you next time. Hopefully we'll be talking about BYU beating AFA like a rented mule by then.

Sorry to hear about your shoulder there Shake. I know we all try to be "mild aggressive" but unfortunately things still happen. I hope it hasn't made things difficult at home and work. That's the only thing that worries me. I'm okay with pain I just don't want to place unnecessary burden on my family or co-workers. As for my boy, I'm trying to bring him along slowly. I didn't really get into sports or football until I was in junior high. I was talking with Jon Burbidge at church last year (he played during the Crowton years..#37) and he said he didn't start playing until 5th grade, so there's still plenty of time for him. But he sure loved getting on the field with you guys.

Yes, hopefully we can get everyone out next time. Barring an unforeseen conflict I should be there and it looks like I found somebody to play. I don't know how good he is but he's in good shape and he's a cool guy so we'll see.

It was a good time as always. We only had 9 this time, but we still had fun. Hopefully one of these days we'll get everyone at once. I think I may have found another guy to come play, he sounded excited about it and he's pretty athletic.

Saturday was the first time my son has come with me. He's 7 yrs old, his name is Cameron. We've been working on some things in the backyard. He loves to tackle and run with the ball. He can't throw or catch to save his life but he's great on short-yardage situations! Letting him play with the "big boys" Saturday really opened up his eyes to how fun it is, and to see his dad playing I think really helped. So thanks to everyone for cooperating and letting him jump in.

Your son may not have been able to catch or throw but afterwards he started showing some placement and form on his punting, though alittle inconsistent plus, he needs to put a little more leg into it.

I think I may be able to (finally) get Hala at least, possibly some of his in-laws for next week. fingers crossed

So is this a weekly thing now and not just bi-weekly?

Still every other week. Are you ever going to come or what?

It would really be nice to have a full 7 on 7 so that we can do some blocking and even things out a little.

I love the whole "aerial attack" thing, but dang, at 220+ lbs, I don't back peddle like a cornerback. I need to stay headed forward in a north and south direction of travel.

It is for sure a good work out though.

Hey, that brings me to a good question for each of you. As I near the dreaded 30 year mark, what kind of work outs (if any) do you guys do for a good sweat?

I have taken up circuit training just recently (about 5 weeks ago), and I only get to do it a couple of days a week. I have free weights in my basement, but lifting too much is not the answer for me because I turn into a muscle head pretty quickly and I don't think that would be terribly easy to maintain once I get to be 50. I hate to run, but do run maybe 3-5 miles a week in the circuit thing.

Anyway, I was going to look into Brazilian Ju-Jitsu or something to that effect, but haven't actually pursued anything formal yet.

What works for some doesn't work for others. I loved the "aerial attack" although I did get a little spent there at the end. Finally after a few games I feel like I'm getting a little speed back.

As for your workouts, each person responds differently. I play b-ball once a week and do medium-duty weights 3-4 days a week. At 34 yrs old it seems to work well enough. I used to work out pretty heavily but with three kids I now lack the time and resources to lift as much as I would like to. I use the b-ball and our football games for my cardio and concentrate on the 6:00 am weights for my anaerobic workouts. I've never been a big push-up or sit-up guy but you can always do those as well. Luckily for me, I don't need to run very much, probably due to my light frame.
