Ok, MOST of us are not saying "he deserved it because he was a Ute" and "there is no way the BYU fan acted out of line" (and if they are, they've been mostly sarcastic...if you can't handle that, I'm sorry)
What we ARE saying is that we're not going to be so gullible as to believe every part of this story. And, rather than condemning some unknown BYU fan for their actions, we'd rather wait to hear the real facts...which apparently, will never happen!
My personal opinion is that this story sounds phony. If someone got punched and headbutted during an argument...it's probable that multiple people would have seen it. In other words, I don't BELIEVE that the story is TRUE!! There! Now tell me devil puncher or Cowley, how is this so "DISGUSTING" to you?

I don't think you can be on either side in this case.
This dude obviously fabricated so much information and in return has had a lot of info fabricated about him, who knows what REALLY went down.
And I want all y'all to take a look at YOUR emotions during the game. You don't think or act your best when your thinking and acting through your adrenaline (or drunken, for the team up North) ridden emotions.
Yes, violence happened! No, you cannot decided just because violence happened that it wasn't justified given the emotional stakes of the situation. We simply do not know enough information to decide for or against the violence taken.
I'm not a big supporter of violence AT ALL (I don't like wars, I don't support guns, I'm all about the Amish point of view on that, etc) but I'm not going to sit there an not say I've never wanted to full out punch a dude in the face especially when I'm emotional and he's obnoxious and ridiculous. And I'm a girl! I can only imagine that testosterone overload messes up the dudes even more.
I do not see the initial problem of the guy getting head butted as a blue and red issue. An idiot fan is an idiot fan. Even if it were the other way around. This ute guy was an idiot, the BYU fan that couldn't keep his emotions in check was an idiot. This stuff happens. Move on.
BUT...Because this Ute did go public about this event and he did get to express his side, lying was not the right thing to do. His face wasn't gushing. His nose wasn't broken. His ridiculous brother getting his little boy to sadly announce

Whoa, didn't post my whole thing . You know what I was saying at the end there anyway. All in all:
I want to head butt myself in the face when I hear how much of a sob story this turned out to be.

Okay, I will make this easy for you. Lets begin:

Maybe true, but not for you...

Dirty, blasted Ute, deserves the broken nose.

Read the thread again, there is no sarcasm (except for mine when I state that sentiment).

Actaully that is not what YOU are saying, instead you say...
cougarfurr wrote:
For all we know, the Utah fan had it coming...which is my guess as to what happened.
Now here is where you bring in the double standard...
cougarfurr wrote:
Nobody should judge the byu fan because we don't know what the Ute fan did to provoke it.
So, you judge the Ute fan and say he deserves it on half a story and yet recommned that nobody should judge the BYU fan on half a story.

Done. I now pity you EVEN more (don't worry I have lots more pity for you).

If all you're saying is you don't believe his story, OK. I can live with that.
I was more disgusted by those who took the stance that he's a Utah fan so he got what he deserved.

Good job breaking it down. Anyone who thought at any point "this guy was a dirty Ute so he deserved it" needs to rethink their priorities. If the BYU-Utah rivalry gets you that worked up that you would condone violence, there's something wrong with your line of thinking.
