We played a gimped UCLA team on a relatively home field stadium. 99% of the time Horvath gets that fg. We are very very lucky, and I'm very very happy, but we played poorly on offense and defense in the second half. When you're up against a freshman qb, he cannot get comfortable like he did towards the end of the game. He should be like a deer in headlights and instead grew up a bit.
This game was about a C- for BYU and I'm disappointed the team didn't show up.
I'm so relieved we won, but the offensive play calling was a fiasco and I don't care how much you trust your running backs, you don't hand off with 20 seconds left when you know UCLA would have been content to go to half, letting the clock run out. That touchdown at the end of the 1st half carried UCLA through the 2nd. I wouldn't have been surprised had UCLA not scored there, if they started to lay down in the 2nd half.
Anyone that thought that Robert Anae would be approached for head coaching jobs needs to check their heads after this game.
The pros- our stars Unga, Hall, Oline- etc. have a lot to work on during the spring and fall and this will give them good reason. I'd much rather learn a lesson with a W than an L so thank goodness it was a W.
I will miss Bryan Kehl as much as any BYU player since Ty Detmer...and whatever team Kkehl lands with in the NFL will be my 2nd fav team behind the 'Boys.
Maybe in a week or so, I'll be happier it turned out this way, but right now I still feel sick about this game. We played poorly against a pretty mediocre team with a very very good defense.
