I listened to the answer 3 times last night before I posted. I know he was talking about the team in general and not Chambers specifically. I've also shown that you don't understand too well earlier regarding what Quest for Perfection means. Therefore, the burden is on you and you've failed to meet that burden.
Again, Mendenhall was talking about the players on the team in general even though the question alluded to Chambers. Bronco never once linked Chambers to the question until the end where Bronco took the blame for not preparing the team better for interviews and never once said anything about Chambers' family background in anyway.
Again, you need to retract your false accusation.

Please show me a quote. Steering me to the audio interview is not showing me the quote that supports your position. You need to retract your false accusation about Bronco making a racist statement.

Bronco was talking about Chambers...

And, assuming a black person is from a single parent household is a racist assumption.
Which statement do you disagree with (please, for your sakes, don't argue against the latter)?
Dude, you're in denial...
He was responding to a question about Chambers' questionable remarks, and basically said, it was our failure but in our defense Chambers isn't like most of our athletes; he's not from two-parent family, not LDS, and didn't grow up as a BYU fan.
If you disagree, I'd love to hear your interpretation of Bronco comments.

Even if he meant it exactly as you think he did (which he didn't), how is it racist? I actually agree with it. He is different from most of the athletes we have. How? Well, just like Bronco said: he's not from a two-parent family, not LDS, and didn't grow up as a BYU fan. Where's the racist comment?

You should probably go back and listen to the interview yourself. Bronco said "most of our young men here have the advantage of being raised in a two parent home, a lot of them in the LDS faith".
Now, Bronco knows the family situation of EVERY player, and Chamber does come from a single-parent home. He and his mom are very close. He was not assuming that all black kids only have 1 parent, nor even assuming all black kids on the team have 1 parent. In fact, he didn't mention race at all. He was merely pointing out that even with the high character kids, they sometimes say things they shouldn't.
So, which of these things do you disagree with?

It doesn't sound like Bronco is making any assumption here,it sounds like he is stating what he perceives to be fact. If Chambers is in fact from a two-parent family then Bronco made a mistake in fact, not an assumption. I don't know if Chambers is or is not from a two-parent home. I would not expect Bronco to have to make any assumptions about the players' backgrounds, I would expect him to know. If he got this one wrong he was either mis-informed, or had a memory glitch, now with 80+ (I don't know the exact number) players plus future prospects and attempted walk-ons I wouldn't blame him for an occaisional mistake.
I think any attempt to construe this remark as being racially related is blatent slander.
(Thanks Jgrantr for the info on Chambers, didn't see it until after I posted.)

I just wanted to go on the record that I love the word "jackassery" and will try to use it from now on.
Not in regards to this incident though. I really don't think this story is worth the paper/electrons used to display it.

ttexastim, I'm fairly new here and I thought I had the ugliest avatar of anybody here, but, alas, you have not only beaten me for the ugliest avatar, you have handed me a sound thrashing. I am truly humbled in your presence.
