Because dead horses are the funnest things to beat, I'll keep this topic alive with more of my opinion.
Most folks on this forum believe that right and wrong are constants, and that whether or not anyone actually views the right or wrong act is irrelevant. The same can be said with speech. Immature, or stupid things to say are wrong irrespective of whether or not anyone actually hears the thing said. Accordingly offense or level of being offended shouldn't even be in the conversation. We should say what was done was wrong. when the school found out about it, they acted appropriately in telling her to stop being stupid, and we should move on.
What is really funny is that I'm not sure most people over on the ute board know what the term "irony" means. many of their opinions are to the effect of she is a brain-washed product of religious and cultural intolerance, and essentially outside factors forced her to do these stupid things. And she is just upset over being 25 years old and unmarried.
Stated in another way, many if not most ute responses can be summarized as follows: "You think you're "holier than thou", and because you think you're "holier than thou" you are not holy, thus making me holier than thou!
Ironic!
