I really think that the yootards have a better team than Michigan. Michigan is going into an offense that they arent accustomed to. The yootards and MWC win this game by 12

This year I'm rooting for BYU first and the rest of the MWC second. I really wouldn't mind if Utah won all of their games ... except one in November, of course. Part of me cringes, but in reality, the more the MWC can win the more it boosts the conference, and BYU's stock rises. I think Michigan is more vulnerable this year than they have been in a while. Utah could very well pull it off, and people seem to look at the Utes as the definitive underdog (which I would still say they are), but notice Utah is actually ranked higher than Michigan to start the season in one of the polls. (Coaches?)

The Utes will probably win. They always practice some sort of 8 play trick package. Don't know why they can't just play a team straight up. You can almost count on them faking a punt in that game. Am I right?

Both teams have bad defenses? I disagree. Utah is returning almost all of their secondary. They will have a suspect rushing defense, but their passing D will keep this game low scoring. Utah was top in the conference in scoring defense last year. They will be close to the top again this year.

As for predicting injuries - they are going to happen in just about every game, but this year KW is going to protect BJ more. If they lose him, they will have another slow start. Both times BJ has been injured, he was running the ball. He won't be running nearly as much this season.

I keep going back and forth on my predictions. This will be a low scoring affair - seeing that Utah is a power running team (mixed with short dump off passes), and Michigan is not fully equipped to run the full spread. Once Michigan gets a couple of good recruiting classes, then they will open things up more.

The final score will be 24-17 - I have yet to pick the winner.

Weak defense? High scoring? Look, I have no love at all for either team but that's just not correct. The strength of both teams is actually their defense, and that all of the questions surrounding this game are on the offensive side of the ball. Michigan will be crap this year no doubt about it, but if they have any success it will be because of their defense. The same can be said of Utards.

I think Utah has a shot to pull this off since they get up for the big games, but look for them to follow their model again this season and inexplicably drop a game or two they should win (can't wait for the Utah State game).
