Speaking of freedom, I heard on the news in my car, that California is trying to pass legislation that new homes be built with a radio control device that allows the government to regulate the heat in your home, to avoid power outages and brown outs. I heard that and about drove off the road. Who is leading this mess and what party do they belong to?
Luckily this became common knowledge so the program has been suspended. You want a better one? In Miss there is a bill being drafted to fine restaurant owners who serve fat people. They say it is for the good of the fat people!
The real sad part is that it is being drafted by two rep's and one dem! Stinking rino's!

You have to leave out all the ' and " or it will stop at that part of the post. You need to add them in after the cut and paste.

This was an interesting post.. I've been wondering how LDS republicans will reconcile themselves with a party that has basically rejected a candidate because of his LDS faith. It's somewhat ironic considering most LDS consider it "God's party".

I have been I life-long republican. It comes down to my upbringing as a military brat and it always seemed like the republicans cared about the military more than democrats.
I have become disillusioned with the coalition that makes up the republican party, ever since the Reagan years, however. The way I see it, the Reagan majority used to be comprised of the social conservatives (pro-life, pro-family, tough on crime), the fiscal conservatives (pro-business, deregulation, smaller government), and the foreign policy hawks (pro-military, active democratization).
The social conservatives morphed into the "Christian Right" (people who would never vote for a Mormon) during Bush II's presidential campaign, the fiscal conservatives were outflanked by Bill Clinton when he adopted fiscal policy positions that improved the economy and decreased the growth of our national debt, and the foreign policy hawks are embroiled in military action in Iraq that is currently stable but promises nothing positive in the near future without our continued presence.
In the end, I find myself asking why I should continue to support a party that would never allow someone like me or my sons (not a slide on women, I only have boys in my family) to be their candidate for president because of our religious convictions.
If Ron Paul is out (he would only be a protest vote anyway because he isn't a serious contender), I sure hope I can vote for Barak Obama. I might just start a write-in campaign for a Mendenhall/Edwards ticket.

I think the Republican ticket will be McCain/Huckabee, with a possibility of McCain/Guliani.
I will NOT vote for McCain, as he is not a conservative, and that is the wrong direction for the Republican party to go.
I would NOT vote for Huckabee, as he is clearly a bigoted anti-Mormon. I wouldn't vote for Guliani for the same reasons I wouldn't vote for McCain. And though I would vote for Ron Paul, he is also clearly outside the mainstream Republican spectrum due to his anti-war pro-terror policies (and has NO chance at the nomination).
The final Democrat candidate will be interesting. I think Obama (despite having absolutely NO experience and questionable motives/loyalties) will win the majority of states and votes, only to see Clinton get the nomination due to back-room political deals to gain most of the "super delegates" that come from individual democrats in power. I think that is anti-American (just like the West Virginia primary), and that there will be Democratic voter backlash after seeing "their" choice for candidate still lose the nomination. Also, blacks will be so outraged that "their" candidate is shot down that they will not vote for Billary. And many Democrats in general don't want another dirty Clinton in the White House.
Neither side will support their candidate, and the independents will choose McCain, but Billary will still get the nod due to anti-Bush votes.
If so, I think you will see Romney run again in 2012, and this time he will WIN the Republican nomination. His religion will be old news, and he will have four more years of no "flip-flopping" under his belt (even though he did waaay less of that than McCain in the first place). At least that's my hope after such a lame general election so far.....

No not God's party. Just the lesser of two evils!
