mcgregorrhpcougardadmcgregorI'm always critical of the team.
With such fantastic pitching, there's no excuse for our record. I expect our error problem to only marginally improve. Our W's will increase when we start playing teams in our woeful conference.
Man I feel like Airwolfe when I write like that.
I've yet to see a game this year. I'll check them out soon, but I don't expect my opinion to change.
mcgregor...you are critical mass...if you knew anything about baseball I would listen, however...you were the same critic last year and were wrong again!!
mmb72...Seth is on a mission, and yes he is a very excellent player. back in '09...but watch out, he may decide to play Football.
RHPDad,
If I knew anything about baseball . . . . . . WOW.
How was I proven wrong last year? They sucked. Got better because we play in a weak conference. Repeat.
And I'm not blaming the talent. Quite the contrary: my problem is that we are getting so little out of such great talent. We play undisciplined baseball. Reminds me of a certain football coach that no longer holds a job here at BYU.
Trust me, I know baseball.
Having played baseball recently at BYU, I would have to say I agree. I don't think BYU lacks the talent, but the ability to get the most out of players. I don't see the program heading in any new direction over the next _ years. They will continue to show signs of extreme potential, but won't establish themselves as they should. Again, I've been out of the system for a bit, and loved playing ball there, but don't see it becoming a dominant program under its current direction. A good program in the conference, but not dominant in conference. The team should consistently compete with TCU and occasionally UNLV, and establish itself as secondary to neither. At times it does; however not like it is capable of.
SDSU is similar. Gwynn may know baseball, but I'm not sure he's the type of guy to motivate players and get the most out of them either. They will consistently get ridiculous talent becuase of him, but I don't expect them to ever be consistenlty dominant like they are in preseason rankings, just because of Gwynn's name.
