No question with Brian Soi, Dallas Reynolds and Jason Speardon, this is a good year in Utah for football team this season.
Many of those players on BYU's list receive all-state honors by the Tribune and Deseret News this week.
As reported, BYU has a commit from kicker Mitch Payne of Weber High. He averaged 41.4 yards per punt and was perfect on extra points and kicked field goals of 54 and 55 yards this past season.
We told you about the TE from state champion Northridge, Dan Van Sweden. He is 6-4, 220 and caught five touchdown passes. He was a dominating linebacker, notching 85 tackles and 10 sacks. Van Sweden commited to BYU earlier this week.
The best player in the state, according to the Deseret News who named him Mr. Football, is a safety BYU has been recruiting named Kyle Brady from Tooele, the 3A MVP. He is 6-foot-3, 205 pounds and has 31 career interceptions, 15 of those this past year. He also scored 31 touchdowns in his career.
Lance Reynolds' two sons, Dallas and Matt were both first team all-state players. Matt may be better than his older brotherDallas. Matt, a sophomore, is 6-5, 260. Soi is called the best player at Timpview High the past 13 years by his coach Chad Van Orden.
Jason Speardon from Granger, 6-5, 275 is close to committing to BYU. He recorded 75 tackles and 12 sacks as a DL.
