There is one piece of unfinished business left in 2002 that nees to be tied together in coming weeks.
That would be the status of DB Walt Williams, who is just now finishing his finals at a community college in Dade County Florida after transfering there from Arizona where he signed with the Cougars last year.
Letters of Intent are binding for 18 months if you are a high school recruit and if a JC guy does not enroll in a school after signing then he is a free agent. All this time, Williams has been a free agent and could be recruited by anybody.
BYU is not worried that Williams will enroll Jan. 6 at BYU and have a copy of his transcripts and other paper work for him to enroll. There are some things that are missing since he is finishing up his finals this week. Those items would include his actual Associate Degree certificate of graduation from a JC and he needs to return his ecclesiastical endorsement from his pastor in Miami.
Williams has been in touch with Cougar recruiters with a contract as late as last week and the word we get is that Williams has never waivered even one iota in his desire to play for BYU and plans on being in school come January 6.
