Defense takes over in offensive-minded series |

Anyone familiar with the BYU-San Diego State series over the past 15 years knows that offenses have found it easy to rack up numbers. Scores like 62-34, 45-38, 45-44 and 48-27 have been put in the record books.
Of course, the pinnacle of offensive greatness between the two schools had to have been the 52-52 tie in 1991. Ty Detmer and the Cougars, after trailing by 28 in the third quarter, came back to tie it up in the final minute on a Jamal Willis run. The two teams combined for over 1,000 yards total offense.
Those type of numbers will have to wait for at least a year, however. This year |
