COUGARBLUE 2
Colorado State is coming to town, and that means it's ugly time.
I don't like the Rams.
Mr. Cowley, hope you don't mind if I use your idea of calling that quarterback of theirs Mr. Mullet as well.
I hope the Cougars shut Mr. Mullet up after he commented that Colorado State would "destroy the Cougars" earlier this week.
Too bad I can't take advantage of those third-row tickets I just bought for my friends this morning. I have to work. Dang it! Of all the games to miss.
THE SCORE
BYU 31, Colorado State 27. It's not gonna be another 56-34 blasting like the 2001 version, but look for BYU to keep up the offensive success they started last week. Yet again, this game will come down to the final drive, just like every other game the Cougars have played this season.
OFFENSIVE MVP
Rod Wilkerson. 50/50 finds the end zone on a long bomb to spark the BYU offense. Colorado State d-backs are left shivering in their shoes for the rest of the night.
DEFENSIVE MVP
Whoever hits Mr. Mullet the hardest. Take him out of his game. I loved ragging on Mr. Cocky (Chance Harridge) a couple weeks ago, and now I get the chance to rag on people with nasty hair styles.
OFFENSIVE DARKHORSE
Lance Pendleton. This multi-purpose guy likes to play really good every few games, and today is his day. Go Pendy!!
DEFENSIVE DARKHORSE
David Nixon. Until the fab freshman has a bad game, he's solidified himself in this spot in my picks for the rest of the season.
THINGS THAT WILL SHINE
The scoreboard, Pretty girls at the game, Rey Braithwaite. The scoreboard keeper gets his first real test of the season. Pretty girls like homecoming. And as for Mr. Braithwaite, he decides to try and break his own school record of a 95-yard run by losing 30 yards on a first-down run, then taking the next one 97 yards for six. Ok, so you can only really do that on the Playstation 2.
THINGS TO WATCH OUT FOR
Turnovers. Three turnovers like BYU had last week would kill the Cougars against Colorado State. Whoever wins this battle likely wins the game.
FINAL ANALYSIS
Revenge is sweet. Down with the Rams. BYU improves to 3-1 in MWC play with a win, and set up some serious confidence as they head on the road for their next two games. |
